An increasing number of ophthalmologists are trying to convert to Phaco-emulsification and in the process many human eyes suffer the damage, some of them irreparable. The biggest hurdle to learning phaco is lack of artificial eyes/Cataract & Phacos for practice. In an attempt to eliminate this problem we have developed a simulator eye for practicing the basic steps of phaco surgery. i.e. capsullarhexis, sculpting & four quadrant grooving, bimanual cracking into four quadrants, chopping & emulsification of the nucleus. After completion of phacoemulsification and cleaning of the lens matter, the eye can be used for practicing foldable or rigid IOL insertion. The Iol can be retrieved after completing the procedure by cutting open the cornea by corneal scissors. This practice eye is aimed at helping the phaco trainees getting good hand-foot coordination on the phaco machines with minimum stress levels.
