The vertical flattened tip of this cannula is excellent for hydrodissection when oriented in the horizontal plane. When rotated, the tip is used under irrigation to imbed into the lens nucleus and create a central groove the length of the capsulorhexis to a depth of one half to two thirds of the lens thickness.
